Experience two weeks of music, language learning, and cultural discovery at the 2026 International Piano & English Summer Camp at Pittsburg State University in Pittsburg, Kansas (USA). This unique program brings together students from around the world who want to improve their piano performance while strengthening their English skills in an immersive American campus environment.

 

Participants will study with expert faculty, perform in a final recital, and explore U.S. culture through engaging activities and excursions. Whether you are an aspiring pianist or a lifelong music enthusiast, this program offers an opportunity to develop musically, academically, and culturally.

Piano Training

Participants will develop essential musicianship skills while working closely with professional instructors.

• Trip to museums and shopping in Kansas City
• Independence Day celebrations during the 250th anniversary of the United States
• Closing ceremony and piano recital

 

These experiences help students build friendships, practice English, and explore American culture.

 

Certificate of Participation

Participants will receive a certificate of participation. This is a non-credit, non-degree program. This is a recreational program only. 

 

Housing & Meals

On-campus housing and all meals are included for participants attending the summer music camp, providing a full residential experience. Participants stay in university residence halls and enjoy catered meals on campus. 

 

Performance Venues

Participants will perform and learn in McCray Recital Hall, a historic and intimate performance space known for its warm acoustics and long tradition of student and guest recitals. They’ll also experience the state-of-the-art Bicknell Family Center for the Arts, a modern venue that offers professional-level performance facilities and an inspiring environment for young musicians. 

 

Eligibility

• Basic piano and English skills are required. 
• Adult learners from around the world are welcome.
• Participants under 18 must travel with an adult chaperone.
• Chaperones are responsible for their own expenses.

Payment

Deposit: A 50% deposit of $665 is required at the time of registration. 

Final Payment Deadline: June 1, 2026

No refunds will be issued after June 1 (unless the visa is denied).

Airport

A free airport shuttle will be provided to and from the Joplin Regional Airport (JLN). This is the preferred airport which is a 30-minute drive from campus. Connections to this airport are available on United Airlines from Denver and Chicago. 

 

Here are alternative airports, however, transportation to and from Pittsburg, Kansas, is not included and will be at the participant's own expense: Kansas City International Airport (MCI) (2-hour drive); Springfield-Branson National Airport (SGF) (1.5-hour drive); Northwest Arkansas Regional Airport (XNA) (1.5-hour drive); Tulsa International Airport (TUL) (2-hour drive). 

 

Scholarship Opportunity 

Participants who complete this Summer Camp and plan to pursue an undergraduate or graduate degree at Pittsburg State University will receive a $60 application fee waiver and a $1,000 scholarship for the academic program, if admissible. 

 

Meet the Faculty

Dr. Reena Berger Natenberg

Reena Berger Natenberg is an accomplished pianist and professor of piano at Pittsburg State University. Known for her expressive artistry and dedication to student mentorship, she has performed internationally and brings extensive experience in piano pedagogy and performance.

 

Mr. Isaac Hernandez

Isaac Hernandez is a collaborative pianist and educator who specializes in ensemble performance and accompaniment. His work helps students develop strong musical collaboration skills and a confident stage presence.
