Downtown Pittsburg, Kansas will come alive with a two-part event dubbed “Sonidos del Corazon: Music Under the Stars.”

5 p.m. on the north lawn of Memorial Auditorium and Convention Center: food trucks, local dancing groups, and Pittsburg Hispanic Banda. Free (except for food!). Confirmed vendors: Tacos el Gordo, El Moreno, Pasiôn Peruana, The Sweet Pitt, and Island Time Snow Cones). Bring your lawn chairs/blankets!

8 p.m. inside the auditorium, a high-energy free concert by Making Movies — a Grammy-nominated band founded by a Panamanian songwriter, musician, filmmaker, and cultural producer. The band interweaves styles as divergent as cumbia and blues, salsa, soul, and rock-n-roll.

This event is part of the ongoing Hispanic Music Festival that runs from Sept. 14 to Oct. 19!
