During his time at Pitt State, Dr. Craig Fuchs was a professor of music and director of the Honors College. Following his retirement, he continued to ignite a passion for learning, encouraged his former students, and remained connected with the Pitt State community.

On February 23, 2022, Craig was diagnosed with ALS. Because of everything he had given to his students and this university, in Fall 2022, students from the Honors College Association hosted the inaugural "Go Forth & Conquer" 5K and Fun Run to benefit the ALS Association.

On June 8, 2024, Fuchs peacefully passed surrounded by his family. He was 62.  

This fall, the Honors College Association continues their 5K tradition with the third annual event to honor his impact.
